Umami Burger Is On The Way, Bottle Cap Set to Open, and All Seasons Cafe May Be Back

The past 24 hours in gossip, innuendo, and cold hard facts about the San Francisco food scene.

It's official: Southern California's Umami Burger has called dibs on a Union Street spot. Eater SF reports it will be taking over the former Jovino's space (2184 Union at Fillmore), and is slated to open late September or early October. Does this mean they'll add a NorCal Burger to the menu?

Bottle Cap, the American restaurant from Dane Boryta and Elizabeth Ferro, will open early next month. Inside Scoop reports the restaurant that took over the old Washington Square Bar and Grill space has posted its outdoor sign and is set to open July 7 (1707 Powell at Columbus).

Another opening slated for July 7, via Eater SF, is Bamboo Asia (41 Montgomery at Sutter), which we previously mentioned is a casual cafe with food stations representing Indian, Japanese and Vietnamese cuisines. They also report that Pacific Height's Dumpling & Buns should open as planned this August, while, via Grub Street, Martin Yan's Noodle Revolution at the Westfield Centre won't open until 2012.

Out in the Richmond a new Chinese restaurant has popped up. The Richmond District Blog reports Sichuan House (5037 Geary at 14th Ave.), from chef / owner Hong Liu, opened last week. The menu includes spicy Sichuan dishes, as well as more mild Mandarin options.

Looks like the mourning of West Portal 's All Seasons Cafe may be over. Eater SF shares the news, via a tipster and a chalk announcement, that they were scheduled to reopen today at lunch. We're all waiting to see if it is indeed true. Fingers crossed.

And earlier this week we mentioned Kati Roller's plans to park in the Financial District, in addition to their new gig at Off the Grid. Eater SF now reports they'll have to wait 30 days for the Department of Public Works decision on the proposed parking spots. This is the second lingering wait for Kati Roller; in March they were a part of the weekend camping trip in front of City Hall for one of the "streamlined" food vendor permits. Typical.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
