  • What goes better with a concert than oysters?

San Francisco has a way of using food to frame things: disasters, political discussions, drugs. On Saturday. an outdoor concert with the likes of Guster and Rodrigo y Gabriela was framed with bivalves. The 12th annual OysterFest brought together succulence on the half-shell and stout, with a sprawling concert at the Great Meadow in Fort Mason. There was plenty of food-related stuff to be sure: cooking demos, an exhibit on oyster history, and the yearly Shuck and Suck contest ― photographer Hanna Quevedo captured it all in this SF Weekly slideshow that slips down easy.

The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
