SFoodie's roundup of tips, news, and rants from the week in animal-free eats.

• Over on SFist, I have my bimonthly Three Vegan Dishes post, which includes an epic night of dining at Millennium, called the Southern Comfort dinner. You don't want to miss that, y'all! I don't know, that was me trying to act country. I know, I'm an offensive bigot ― tell me something I don't know!

Forks Over Knives opens all over and it turned Roger Ebert vegan. I guess not super hard to do since he lives on a liquid diet but still, pretty fucking cool. The movie is crazy eye-opening, brought to you by the same doctors who got The Big Dog all healthy again and if I've said it once, I've said it a million times, YOU ARE NOT BETTER THAN THE BIG DOG. I mean, that fool got blow jobs from a woman half his age WHILE SITTING IN THE OVAL OFFICE. Respect.

  • I took this photo, fools!

• Florida killed that bullshit bill that was going to make filming in slaughterhouses and factory farms illegal. Finally, some fucking good news out of that state. I mean, besides this dude. I have that story bookmarked and I read it a couple times a month to cheer myself up. God speed, Michael Francis Wiley!

• There's a deeeelicious vegan bake sale in Berkeley this Saturday! It's for Animal Place sanctuary and you can get all the details on Facebook and if you're too awesome for Facebook, you can JUST STARVE. I'm tired of your kind.

• I interviewed Ubuntu executive chef Aaron London for this very website earlier in the week. Go check out how fun and great I am he is.

• Here's a viral video that the internet is currently masturbating to. He's the Vegan Black Metal Chef and he's hilarious and takes his g-d time. Seriously, this video could be about 20 minutes shorter and still awesome. It's all about brevity, you guys. I know this. Now on to 50 more stories of me talking about myself!

• Remember when I told you about Vegansaurus' Megan reporting on how fucked that Water for Elephants movie is? Well, here's confirmation that the ele in the movie got treated like shit and was basically beaten into performing. OMG HOLLYWOOD LIED TO US. It's like that one time when they tried to convince me that Renée Zellweger was attractive and I almost fell for it and then I was all, "Wait! I HAVE EYES."

• Washington state bans the sale of shark fins! Huzzah! Now onto the 3,000 other fucked animal products they sell! [Please note: I say "Huzzah!" because I'm a woman and love Bridget Jones.]

• Cargill Meat Solutions (shudder) in Dodge City, Kan. (PUKE), was fined massively after OSHA inspectors found health and safety violations at the packing plant. God, to incur an actual fine things have to be FUCKED. God knows what those people found but I'm gonna guess that workers were doing sex to piles of ground chuck. And with that, ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND!

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
