Tablehopper reports that Brick and Mortar Music Hall, (1710 Mission at Duboce) which opened in the former Coda space in late March, is starting to focus on food. Co-owner Michael O'Connor says he's hiring one of his favorite chefs for the casual, Austin-inspired menu, but no, it won't be another BBQ place. Until O'Connor nails down the kitchen, Mission neighbor caterers Crimson Kitchen plans to serve something called "Bombay bar food," starting Friday.
Another opening from Tablehopper: Devil's Teeth Baking Company (3876 Noriega at 46th Ave.). The shop, which takes its moniker from the nickname for the Farallons, serves breakfast sandwiches, lunch quiches, and an assortment of morning pastries. Also: beignet Sundays.
Also from Tablehopper, the Ox Cafe has opened, while the Ace Cafe has closed. The Ox (798 South Van Ness at 19th St.) is a tiny Mexican cafe serving a few hot dishes and spicy coffee drinks. Ace officially closed April 29, but tweeted that they hope to reopen in a new location.
On Monday, we noted the return of one ice cream shop. Today Noe Valley SF reports that Tuttimelon has closed just in time for local summer.
From Eater SF, Tacolicious II and its tequila bar Mosto are three months away from opening day. The restaurant and adjacent bar were granted their liquor license, the Mexico City-inspired design is taking shape, and the menus are near completion.
Meanwhile, 7x7 notes an izakaya opening in Temple Nightclub: Ki, slated to open Friday, will serve sushi, yakitori, and a plethora of Japanese alcohol.
We reported yesterday that Roostertail Rotisserie's liquor license was approved for the Cafe Kati space on Sutter, but now comes word from Inside Scoop on why Cafe Kati is closing this Saturday after two decades of service.
And the end date is announced: Inside Scoop reports Ti Couz's last day is May 15. Still no word on when, or if, North Beach sandwich shop Giordano Bros. will officially take over the space.
