Food Truck Permit Saga Continues, Locanda to Open Saturday

The past 24 hours in gossip, innuendo, and cold hard facts about the San Francisco food scene.

The food truck vs. brick-and-mortar battle is moving to Divisadero Street. Haighteration reports that the Emeryville-based Docs of the Bay food truck is applying for various S.F. street parking permits, but the one for in front of 312 Divisadero is bringing the most heat because it's right outside an existing restaurant: Thai Place II. Will this play out differently than JapaCurry and Harvest and Rowe? Time will tell.

SFoodie tasted Smitten's liquid-nitrogen flash-frozen ice cream back in October, but The Feast dishes that San Franciscans can now get a scoop at its new shop. Part of the Proxy Project, Smitten retired its red wagon for one of the shipping containers along Octavia near Hayes. The container complex will fill in with other vendors as we move toward summer.

Grub Street is giving readers a look inside a new Cow Hollow wine bar Pe Yale (3131 Fillmore at Filbert) that opened last week. Visitors can expect exposed brick, tea lights, and a small food menu to accompany the wine. The blog is also reporting that Roman osteria Locanda (557 Valencia at 16th St.), from Delfina owners Craig and Annie Stoll, is due to finally open this Saturday in the old Ramblas space.
