Berlyn's Gourmet Eatery, a new restaurant from owner Larry McClendon and Best Of S.F. winner Dontaye Ball of Good Foods Catering, is expected to debut in Oakland at the end of April. Ball says it'll be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with daily changing specials and a set menu that includes panini, cold sandwiches, and salads, with soul food offerings (gumbo, jambalaya) and vegan options. The focus will be on food to go, but there'll be a counter for standing and a few outdoor seats. It should prove to be a good option for Lake Merritt picnicking, as long as you can handle the possibility of hungry geese.

Opening Apr. 23:

Berlyn's Gourmet Eatery: 132 International (at First Ave.), Oakland.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
