Volcano, a Flamer at Cocktail Bar of the Year Smuggler's Cove

We have found much to love about pyrotechnic drinks around town, but the showstopper of 'em all is poured and set aflame at Smuggler's Cove, recently named "Cocktail Bar of the Year" at the 2011 Nightclub and Bar Awards. The icy sweet Top Notch Volcano (pineapple, lime, passion fruit, Maraschino liqueur, and private reserve rum) is intended for four to share, but we think even a couple more people could start on the path of getting plastered with a few sips. While particularly festive for birthdays, celebrating life is enough reason to indulge in a bowl.

Smuggler's Cove: 650 Gough (at McAllister), 869-1900.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
