As reported earlier today, Samin Nosrat is planning an epic series of simultaneous bake sales April 2 to raise funds for Japan disaster relief. In the meantime, Chronicle Books is stepping up with a sale of its own this Monday, Mar. 21, in its lobby at 680 Second Street in SOMA. Food and drink publicity manager David Hawk tells SFoodie it's a Chronicle Books tradition to raise money via bake sales for a variety of causes, and last year employees went public with a sale to help victims of Haiti's quake. Monday's haul ― from sales of goodies baked by Chronicle Books staff, as well as sweets donated by Poco Dolce ― will end up with the American Red Cross. There'll be a jar you can stuff with additional donations, too.
