We checked out an awesome concert at Yoshi's San Francisco earlier this week, and one of the notes that lingered afterward was the memory of our cocktail. We considered musically-inspired options such as Thelonious Drop, Blueberi Brubeck, and Berry Cannonball before settling on Coltrane's Baptism (Don Q Rum, Mathilde Creme de Framboise, lemon, basil, ginger beer, and soda). What could easily have been a too-sweet concoction turned out to be a surprisingly sophisticated blend, thanks to the basil and ginger beer, even as its dual hues make it look like a typical girlie drink.
