The Clandestine Dinner Series: Early Spring
Where: An undisclosed location in the Mission
When: Sat., Mar. 12, 7 p.m., and Sun., Mar. 13, 5 p.m.
Cost: $105 for six courses plus amuse; includes cocktail reception, and pairings by Two Mile Wines
The rundown: The latest pair of subterranean dinners by Stag Dining Group's Jordan Grosser, Ted Fleury, and friends dials up early spring, which, the event announcement points out, "brings with it a reminder of the cyclical grace of nature." Throw in pre-meal cocktails and half-a-dozen organic and biodynamic wine selections, and a staggering trip to the little boys' room might end up cyclical, too. There's also art, by Kasia Severaid, whose work, the Stag guys point out, "explores 'intimate moods, emotions and trains of thought.'" Contemplate that while chewing bacon-wrapped pork shoulder.
Menu highlights: Rabbit terrine "en escabeche"; morcilla-stuffed squid with green and black garlic and romesco; bacon-wrapped pork shoulder with crushed peas and hedgehog mushrooms; olive oil cake with poached strawberries and tarragon ice cream
