Pause Hits 'Go,' Cako Gets Ready to Serve Another Slice

Posted By on Mon, Feb 7, 2011 at 9:43 AM

The past 72 hours in gossip, innuendo, and cold hard facts about the San Francisco restaurant scene.

Eater SF reminds SFoodie that last Wednesday was opening day for Pause Wine Bar (1666 Market, 241-WINE,, in the former location of Cav. The owner is Chris Tavelli, who also owns Yield in Dogpatch and manages the wine list at Millennium. The pitch: "eco-friendly" wines (that's the press release's phrase) and pescatarian plates.

Inside Scoop and the Berkeley Daily Planet pass on the news that Blake's on Telegraph is closing.

The Feast reports that Cako Bakery is about to open a second location in Japan Center. A counterperson just told SFoodie that the projected opening date is Feb. 17, but it may be as late as the end of the month.

Eater finds evidence that a restaurant named Kuta Bistro (4994 Mission, at Italy) may be opening in the Excelsior, and infers from the name that it will serve Indonesian food.

The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
