Opening Soon: Sweet Jane's and Taco's Sandwiches

Posted By on Mon, Jan 17, 2011 at 7:10 AM

The past 72 hours in gossip, innuendo, and cold hard facts about the San Francisco restaurant scene.

Inside Scoop brings word on the future opening of Sweet Jane's (2123 Fillmore), right next to Citizen Cake. The pitch: breakfast-lunch spot run by former pastry chef Amanda Michael.

If you didn't see SFoodie's note last Friday, Christian Ciscle, former chef of Little Skillet, just signed the lease on a place he's going to name Wing Wings (422 Haight). The pitch: guess.

Two closures noted by Inside Scoop/Chron: First, Alioto-Lazio Fish Co. is closing due to the unremediated contamination of nearby waters. And Cafe Kati's Kirk Webber reveals that he is indeed closing the restaurant due to health problems.

Grub Street discovers Taco's Sandwiches (6 Sixth St.). The pitch: sandwiches, some of which sound interesting. Inexplicably, though, reading "Taco's Sandwiches" got SFoodie humming that damn Das Racist song all over again. So we inflict it upon you.

One last intriguing tidbit: The Oakland Tribune mentions that national grocery chain Fresh and Easy will be opening two stores in San Francisco in "early 2011." No word on where they might be.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
