For its next cooking contest, SF Food Wars is looking back. Next month's Return of the Mac . . . Battle Royale w/Cheese pays homage to Food Wars' inaugural mac 'n' cheese competition back in August 2009.

Just to be accepted as a competitor should prove fierce this time ― there are only 16 available slots this time instead of the usual 20. Consult the official page for submission details. There should be even stiffer competition for those who just want to show up as spectators, since tickets consistently sell out within the first minutes of release. Get your clicking fingers ready ― Return of the Mac tix go on sale next week.

As a resident guest judge for SF Food Wars, we're looking forward to tackling the mac once again and seeing all the colorful ideas and people who make them happen. The dairy bomb defeated us last time; we've already got an industrial-size box of Lactaid and a big bib at the ready.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
