Mod-Filipino food truck Hapa SF has announced two pop-up dates this month, Sat., Jan. 22, at La Victoria in the Mission and Tue., Jan. 25, at Bar Basic in SOMA. Owner William Pilz tells SFoodie the idea is to preview dishes that might end up on Hapa's regular menu.
Pilz's pulutan pop-up at La Victoria last summer left SFoodie raving ― expect the Jan. 22 dinner to be like that in form, anyway: reservations (e-mail info@lavictoriabakery.com*), table service, BYOB, kid-friendly.
The Bar Basic event promises to have more of a street-food feel, with Pilz preparing food on the Hapa truck and having servers run it to tables inside the bar. Another big difference: Bar Basic is walk-ins only. And Pilz is working with Par Basic to design a couple of special drinks for the event ― probably a calamansi cocktail and a coco-tini.
Here's the preliminary menu for both events, obviously subject to change:
• "Kilawin" chicken
• Ginger-scallion chicken lumpia
• Salad of duck confit adobo with County Line spicy lettuces and baby beets
• Dungeness crab and artichoke pancit
• Mechado sliders with achara
• Shellfish arroz caldo
• Vegetarian "sisig": Hodo Soy tofu and Ferry Plaza farmers' market vegetables
• Halo-halo cannoli
• Calamondin cheesecake
La Victoria: 2937 24th St. (at Florida), 642-7120
Bar Basic: 510 Brannan (at Fourth St.), 227-0449
For La Victoria reservations, e-mail info@lavictoriabakery.com with name, size of party, preferred time (with second choice), and your phone number.
