Camino New Year 2011

Where: Camino, 3917 Grand (at Wildwood), Oakland

Cost: $80 for four courses; optional wine pairing and vegetarian menu

Why it's likely to be special: SFoodie admits it ― we're suckers for the kind of pure-Alice Cali aesthetic that Camino's Russ Moore is master of. That, plus the visual of the open kitchen's fire-licked grill is just about ideal for a chilly night

Menu highlights: Grilled artichokes and Belgian endive with cardoon purée and black truffles; grilled Dungeness crab and oyster stew with wild nettles; wood oven-roasted rib eye with short rib-marrow cabbage bundle; warm buckwheat crepe with sabayon

Reserve: Online through OpenTable; if you don't find the time you want, call 510-547-5035

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
