Prospect's New Year's Eve Prix Fixe

Where: Prospect, 300 Spear (at Folsom), 247-7770

Cost: First seating (6-7:15 p.m.), $85; second seating (8:15-10 p.m.), $105 (includes party favors and Champagne toast at midnight) Note: a la carte menu available for walk-ins in the bar/lounge/community table area

Why it's likely to be special: Chef Ravi Kapur is a beautiful technician, and New Year's Eve gives him a chance to turn his hand to extra-luxe ingredients. And considering Prospect's regular menu prices, NYE looks to be a bit of a bargain ― if you've got the cash

Menu highlights: Chilled Dungeness crab with kaffir lime; Maine lobster risotto; roast squab with gnocchi and braised oxtail; local halibut with King crab hollandaise; quail stuffed with chestnuts; 20-hour apple terrine

Reserve: Online via OpenTable

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
