  • The first New Taste Marketplace happened in November.

Timing is everything ― in this case, scheduling for the second New Taste Marketplace in Potrero Hill, a benefit for the Food Pantry and St. Gregory of Nyssa Church. It's happening exactly a week before Christmas, just about the time you'll be freaking out about all the gifts you haven't bought. It should offer comfort, not because you'll necessarily wrap up all your shopping, but because you'll be in a room surrounded by others taking a temporary break from freaking out, while nibbling a Casey's Pizza margherita or bowl of Thai chicken stew from Urban Chef Kevin Kroger.

Partial vendor list:

Jade Chocolates, Natural Cookery, Misison GastroClub, Urban Chef/Kevin Kroger, Casey's Pizza, Nosh This, Let's Get Pho'd Up, Goat Hill Granola, Morgans Menu, Three Little Birds Bakery, Tutmak Coffee, Neo Cocoa, Nute's Cupcakes, Cooky, and Red Circle Tea.

New Taste Marketplace

When: Sat., Dec. 18, 4-9 p.m.

Where: St. Gregory of Nyssa Episcopal Church, 500 DeHaro (at Mariposa)

Cost: Sliding scale of up to $10 for admission; bring extra cash for food

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
