Iluna Basque Carries Through on Threats of Closing, Jones Adds Food

Posted By on Tue, Dec 7, 2010 at 8:23 AM

The past 24 hours in gossip, innuendo, and cold hard facts about the

San Francisco restaurant scene.

The writing has been on the wall for months, but Inside Scoop brings word that the end date is finally here: After Sunday, Iluna Basque will close, and ownership will pass to Frascati's owners, Jon and Rebecca Rader, who will rename it Campanula

Grub Street reports that Jones (620 Jones), which heretofore has been known for a roof deck and not much else, is adding happy hour snacks on Dec. 17 and Sunday brunch on Dec. 19. The food is being designed by Oola chef Ola Fendert, and a full menu may appear in January. The bar continues to be open only on weekends, and Grub Street has no word on when it will add weekdays.

Live SoMa reports that three ― count 'em, three ― fast-food chain restaurants shuttered in SOMA this week. Jolibee and Red Ribbon Bakeshop, which shared the same address on the corner of Fourth and Howard, gave up their lease on Nov. 30 and are looking for a new location. (SFoodie is glad that we get to write this up on the blog, PassiveAggressiveNotes style, rather than tell certain members of our acquaintance that their chickenjoy source is gone.) The Quizno's on King and Third just closed, too.

Richmond SF, who broke the news that the DeLano's Markets

in the Richmond, Castro, and Mission have closed/are closing, spoke to

the market chains' attorney. An intriguing piece of intel emerged:

Mollie Stone's may be purchasing two of the stores.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
