Talk of Dungeness mysteriously fades after Thanksgiving, but our crab season isn't over yet. There are few better ways to celebrate it than butter. Lots of butter. Woodhouse Fish Company's crab roll, in fact, represents the intersection of butter and crustacean: a thick slice of buttered bread crisped on the grill, then sliced in half and stuffed with warm, buttered fresh Dungeness crab. A few bites, and you begin to wonder if the chunks of coral-tinged fluff were actually some ethereal surimi formed of sweet, fresh Jersey cream. Squeeze a lemon wedge over top and take another bite, and the sea-sweet, mineral-tinged crustacean flavor emerges. SFoodie enjoyed our crab roll immensely ― the small sandwich was quite enough to satisfy us until next year ― then came home and fixed ourselves a pint of steamed broccoli.
