It's rare opportunity to compare 30 Champagnes at one sitting, but that's what Arlequin Wine Merchant will be pouring next Thursday evening at its annual holiday Champagne event.

Sip bubbly from 30 well-known and cult Champagne producers, most of them grower-producers. They include Krug, Pol Roger, Gosset, Jacquesson, Larmandier-Bernier, Paul Bara, Vilmart, and Agrapart et Fils. After the  party, it's easy to drift over to the adjoining Arlequin Café, which is open until eight. Later than that, you can try Absinthe, which stays open until midnight.

Annual Champagne Tasting

When: Thurs., Dec. 9, 6-8 p.m.

Where: Arlequin Wine Merchant, 384 Hayes (at Gough), 863-1104

Cost: $50; make reservations via the Arlequin website

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
