Last night's Top Chef: Just Desserts just wasn't as sweet as usual. First, there was the Quickfire Challenge: Make a savory dessert. Zac was unsure if he could do this since he doesn't cook/eat real food, only potato chips and ice cream. The challenge was overseen by guest judge Michael Laiskonis, executive pastry chef at Le Bernardin. Since it was sponsored by Dawn soap, contestants had to use only one pot, though they could wash it as many times as they wanted. How suddy!

Like we said, this was an episode that played out far from sweet. Morgan, the constant winner who looks like the Man of Steel, elbowed Heather H. in the lip. He was so wild he made his fellow cheftestants exclaim, "Seth lives!" Every show needs a crazy and sadly, Morgan's taken over.

Shocking even himself, it was Zac who came up the winner. He called himself the perpetual bridesmaid, the Susan Lucci of Just Desserts. But the boy did savory well, with a steamed beet cake with sweet goat cream cheese and lemon-thyme gremolata.

The Elimination Challenge was to create a black and white dessert for a Los Angeles Times' anniversary party (get it, black and white and read all over?). The girls were on the bottom of this color challenge, the boys on top. Since yesterday was Spirit Day, it was only fitting that our favorite Yigit was the winner, with his complex chocolate cake with white chocolate mousse, berry compote, and almond-milk ice cream.

Erika was sent home for her soapy lemon-poppy seed ice cream. Maybe Dawn sponsored her dessert?

As much as we loved Yigit winning, we felt really bad for Heather H. Besides a smacked lip, the poor girl had her white chocolate rice krispies stolen, and landed in the bottom for having red on her dessert. And as hunky as we think Morgan is (we once said he could make cheerleaders cream their cupcakes), we are so over him -- he needs to join us and get over himself. He was rude to Heather and the entire Team Go Diva! Okay, we get it, you're straight and don't like listening to show tunes in the house, but you don't have to be a chauvinistic ass about it.

In honor of Spirit Day, go Team Go Diva! (OMG, if you put the name of the team together it spells "Godiva.") Next week: It looks like drama's brewing in the Diva alliance. We'll be watching.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
