Thursday: Veggie Curry Cook-Off at the Women's Building

Posted By on Wed, Oct 20, 2010 at 4:30 PM

Vegansaurus reports on tomorrow night's second annual vegetarian Curry Cook-Off hosted by International Campaign for Justice in Bhopal, an organization that helps fight for the rights of survivors of the disastrous gas leak and ongoing contamination in Bhopal, India. A suggested donation and silent auction proceeds will go toward ICJB's efforts, and you'll get to taste all entries as well as sip wine. The competition was open to amateur and pro chefs alike, with no restrictions other than making sure the dish was vegetarian, so we imagine this event will provide a nice little window onto the wide variety of curry possibilities.

Curry Cook-Off

When: Thurs., Oct. 21, 6-8 p.m.

Where: Women's Building, 3542 18th St. (at Linda)

Cost: Suggested donation of $20 ($10 for students); pay at the door

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
