Trio of Events Keeps Oktoberfest Alive

Oktoberfest is dead. Long live Oktoberfest.

The original Oktoberfest in Munich ends today, but that doesn't mean you can't still get your polka on. For three days in a row this week, starting in the city, moving up to the North Bay, and then across to the East Bay, those returning from the Fatherland (or those who never made it) can still get their fill of suds'n'sausages.

Thurs., Oktober 7:

Social Kitchen and Brewery

Four S.F. breweries ― SKB, Thirsty Bear, Gordon-Biersch, and 21st Amendment ― will pour five classic German-style biers as a hoffbrauhaus soundtrack is piped in. For $25, fest-goers will receive a glass of each beer and enough sausages, obaster cheese spread, house-made beer mustard, and salads to stretch the stitching on their lederhosen or dirndls.

Time: Starts at 6 p.m.

Fri., Oktober 8:

Third Annual Big Oktoberfest Bash

B.O.B. is a benefit for the Sonoma County Museum, and the $40 admission includes food, brewing demos, live music, and of course plenty of Sonoma County beer from the likes of Russian River, Moonlight, and more. Oh, and local wineries will represent, too.

Where: Flamingo Resort Hotel, 2777 Fourth St. (at Long Drive), Santa Rosa

Time: 5-9 p.m.

Sat., Oktober 9:

Third Annual Oaktoberfest in the Dimond

More than 15 local breweries including Oakland's Linden Street will be pouring beer in classic German styles, plus a rootbiergarten for the kiddos. Let 'em dance the sugar away to live oompa music.

Where: Corner of MacArthur and Fruitvale, Oakland

Time: 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
