Fifth Floor's Market Special, a Perennially Fresh Surprise

The lounge at Fifth Floor is a place for martinis, scotch, and other grown-up drinks. But it's also a sweet spot to be more youthful and leave your liquid fate up to an expert. Order a Market Special and you'll be mixed a beautiful libation featuring the freshest ingredients that catch bar manager Morgan Young's eye during her frequent trips to the Ferry Plaza farmers' market. On a recent visit, we enjoyed a muddle of nectarine with mint and Square One vodka, but Young's inventiveness extends to just about anything. A fine way to put some fun back into your drinking life.

Fifth Floor: 12 Fourth St. (at Market), 348-1555.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
