Cohen is describing both debuts as "soft launches." Vendors at this week's Upper Haight event are 51st State, Chairman Bao, Senor Sisig, Seoul on Wheels, Le Truc, Hapa SF, and Curry Up Now, with flowers from Lilybelle Flower Cart. This week's Civic Center vendors include Liba SF, Southern Sandwich Co., Hapa SF, and Ebbets Good To Go. Civic Center vendors for Sept. 17 are CupKates, Chairman Bao, Curry Up Now, and Seoul on Wheels. Cohen says the five vendors in Civic Center will rotate out every other week.
In July, Rec and Park commissioners approved Cohen's proposal to operate three weekly Off the Grid events in city parks. No word on when the third location - Mission Playground - will come on line. The first weekly Off the Grid street-food event debuted at Fort Mason Center in late June, co-organized by Cohen and Mission nonprofit La Cocina, and became instant successes.
