Louie Louie, a Thermidor Flip

In our drinking adventures, we've sought out beverages made with egg whites and egg yolks as well as drinks that say they have egg in them but actually don't. The Louie Louie at Thermidor is in a new cocktail category to us: The flip, a drink containing a whole egg. It's mixed with Leblon cachaça (Brazilian sugarcane liquor), cantaloupe, lemon and house-made velvet falernum (syrup redolent of clove, lime, and almond), with a bit of grated nutmeg on top.The combo of clove and egg instantly evokes a reminiscence of nog, but this is certainly more sophisticated. That the bartender is only too happy to geek out on your spirits questions only makes it a more enjoyable experience.

Thermidor: 8 Mint Plaza (at Jessie), 896-6500.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
