The lit fest is divided into three themed events, all of which take place on the second floor of the Jack London Square Market Building (55 Harrison St., Oakland).

A panel of writers (including Birdsall) will talk about their experiences with street food, both in the States and abroad.
Making, Growing, and Finding Food
Sat., Aug. 28, 4-7 p.m.
A panel of writers will speak about gardening, foraging, cooking, and environmental and food justice issues.
Porchlight Storytelling Slam
Sun., Aug. 29, 3-5 p.m.
Emceed by Beth Lisick, Porchlight ― the series of monthly storytelling events ― is inviting anyone with a good five-minute food story to tell it to the crowd (you're not allowed to bring written notes with you on stage). To guarantee the event picks up some momentum, the organizers are seeding the competition with a few Porchlight regulars.
