The past 72 hours in gossip, innuendo, and cold hard facts about the
San Francisco restaurant scene.
Carolyn A. of Eater shares some good news. Francis Ford Coppola's new winery in Geyserville is opening July 30, and along with it, the winery restaurant, named
Rustic, Francis's Favorites (300 Via Archimedes, Guyserville; 707-857-1400), which SFoodie would prefer to spell with a colon instead of a comma. The pitch: indoor-outdoor restaurant with an Argentinian parrilla, Brazilian rotisserie, oven for Neapolitan pizzas, and on-site garden. The chef will be Nick Petrilli, a
Tra Vigne vet, and none of Coppola's favorite dishes are named after
Godfather characters. Side note: In the process of looking for more information on Rustic Francis, SFoodie discovered that Black Francis has a
Twitter feed.
Carolyn A. also gets the dish on
Ken Ken Ramen, a Monday-night pop-up noodlerie showing up at Panchita No. 3 (3115 22nd St., at Mission):
Look for the hanging lantern to mark when the kitchen still has bowls
to sell. The owners are Revolver owner Robert Patterson and Stephen
Roesch, and the chef, Kenji Miyazaki, normally works as a cook at
Bushi-Tei. The pitch: Three kinds of ramen ― miso, shoyu, and
vegetarian shiitake ― with gyoza and fried rice coming soon.
Mission Mission reports that Arinell Pizza
(509 Valencia, 255-1303) is celebrating the end of the Valencia
construction by staying open until 3 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
Apologies to the blogger who first announced that the deli in Falletti Foods
(308 Broderick, 626-4400) has opened, replacing the one run by DeLessio
Bakery (which still operates out of the building). We deleted the link
and can't find it again.
