The Whaler, a New Discovery at Prospect

UPDATE: Apparently, cocktail names have changed since we tasted this drink at Prospect's pre-opening. The drink described here is now called the Mr. White.

At freshly opened Prospect, it's a good bet the bar will prove to be just as popular as the restaurant. In his rundown of Brooke Arthur's cocktail program, Alcademics' boozologist Camper English reported that the drink's name is a nod to the 188-year-old whaling ship (Candace) that was found four years ago as ground broke on construction of Prospect's parent building, Infinity Towers. Arthur's blend of Pueblo Viejo Blanco, St. Germain, strawberry-mint shrub (a vinegar-based syrup), and lime is far more sophisticated than a margarita, though just as festive. And, we should add, every bit as uplifting.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
