• Inspired by the luscious, gut-busting open-faces at Tartine Bakery ("we've stood in the bakery line more times than we can count and never once regretted the time spent contemplating the scrumptious treats awaiting us inside"), bloggers Jason and Steve devised a home version. At Our Food Choices™, the guys offer their take on the Tartine croque. The only line you'll have to brave is the express checkout at Whole Foods.
• Jun-Blog's Jun Belen continues his recent obsession with Mexico. Belen's strawberry tres leches shortcake is based on Bayless, a sort of cross-border hybrid that'd fill the average Arizona Republican with righteous rage. We say bring it on.
• Underhill-Lounge blogger Erik Ellestad continues his own obsession, in his case with the Savoy Cocktail Book of 1930s London with the spring cocktail, a blend of gin, Quinquina (Ellestad: "a class of French wine based aperitifs which contain Quinine"), and Bénédictine. Drink enough of 'em and we're guessing it'll feel like spring out there. Despite today's blistering winds.
