Recchiuti's Caramels to the Third Power

Local chocolatier Recchiuti's new 24-piece collection, Caramels to the Third Power ($35), is packaged in a deceptively small box. That's a genius idea other confectioners should steal, since it never feels like too much of an indulgence to dip into a teeny-tiny box, even though it holds two layers of rich, chocolate-covered caramels. Recchiuti has long offered a silky smooth fleur de sel caramel, but this box marks the introduction of milk chocolate butterscotch and dark chocolate caramels. And though we love how the box reduces our visual guilt, some might linger a bit over the price tag.

Recchiuti 1 Ferry Plaza (at Embarcadero), 826-2868.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
