Show Dogs Raising Green for the Tenderloin's Very Own Forest

A forest grows in the T-Loin. - DAVE SCHUMAKER/FLICKR
If the phrase "national forest" brings to mind places with towering redwoods, think again. City dwellers can find their very own, admittedly small, forest in one of the most diverse and densely populated neighborhoods, the Tenderloin. It's called the Tenderloin National Forest (TNF), and it's located in Cohen Alley, off Ellis, designed as a green preserve for chilling out in.

Tenderloin sausage slinger Show Dogs is raising funds for TNF next month, throwing a two-hour party June 10. A $20 ticket yields mini versions of the house specialties (onion rings, mini corn dogs, pigs in a blanket). Beer on tap (PBR, Speakeasy Prohibition Ale, and Black Butte Porter) and live music will also be part of the down-home forest fête. Details after the jump.

Show Dogs Spring Celebration Benefit for the Tenderloin National Forest

When: Thurs., June 10, 6-8 p.m.

Where: Show Dogs, 1020 Market (at Golden Gate)

Cost: $20; pay at the door

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
