The daily special chicken and waffle at Hard Knox's Dogpatch original is ― we hereby make it official ― the best in town (to find better, you'd have to steer your Subaru to West Oakland). The bird's spent time in some garlicky marinade, we figure, three pieces with a salty, bubbly coating that hives off in places like crackly tree bark. Greasy? Yes ― it'd be bogus if it weren't. The waffle turns out soft and stretchy, its ball of melting butter the perfect diner mix of salt and faintly yeasty animal funk. Dear Hard Knox: Promise us you'll find a slot for this on the regular menu?

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
