Why it was only February when talk boiled over about Yon Davis taking over the lease of Annie's Bistro at California and Divis. As he awaited the build-out of the Bayview site expected to house his Yats New Orleans Original Po Boys, Davis's Creole Soups and Such had started as a lunchtime pop-up at Annie's. Now, it seems, Davis and Creole Soups are just a memory in Pac Heights.

Two days ago, we stopped by for lunch at Annie's/Creole Soups, but the place was shut, without a single sign posted that even mentioned Davis, Yats, or Creole Soups. And at the Yats Web site, there's this: "We are no longer doing lunches at Annies Bistro while we finalize a deal for our own freestanding establishment." In February, Davis told SFoodie's Tamara Palmer that the Bayview Yats probably wouldn't open till September. Could a Yats opening be coming far sooner than Davis expected, or did something go horribly wrong at Annie's?

Calls to Davis have so far gone unanswered. We'll let you know if we find out anything.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
