A new confectionery festival called the Sweet Shoppe is scheduled for Mother's Day weekend (May 8-9) in Oakland's Jack London Square. An interactive alternative to a box of chocolates, moms can instead take in some sunshine, cooking demos, and pick out sugary treats on the spot from local vendors including Clarine's Florentines, Mission Minis, Kika's Treats, Sweetface Bakery, and Vice Chocolates.

While this is still a growing event that's a few weeks off, there's only a few more days of early bird ticket prices, which start at $7 and are only good until Sunday. There's a dizzying array of ticket options, some of which include goodie bags with a selection of the fest's best. Mom deserves it. Details after the jump.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
