Saturday at Ferry Plaza, Goat Milk Makes a Big Splash

Posted By on Tue, Apr 13, 2010 at 11:18 AM

Goat milk. Goat cheese. Goat yogurt. Goat ice cream. This Saturday, they are all for the tasting at CUESA's Goat Festival, which takes place at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market. The event's cosponsor is a goat's milk marketing group called Promote the Goat, aka the Goat Girls ― the owners of Redwood Hill Farm, Cypress Grove Chevre, and Laloo's Ice Cream. Which means, of course, the organizers will be accompanying their 10 a.m. talk with plenty of free samples, followed by cooking demonstrations by One Market chef Mark Dommen and author Maggie Foard. Winding up the event will be an interview and book-signing with Rainbow's rockstar cheesemonger, Gordon Edgar.

Redwood Hill Farm is bringing baby goats to the market for children to

nuzzle up with. Which is why, perhaps, CUESA's not sampling out goat

curry, goat kebabs, and goat salami. SFoodie hopes our other favorite

red meat will be a highlight of next year's Goat Festival.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
