A few weeks back, Jay Barmann of Grub Street San Francisco hipped us to the imminent opening of Parada 22 (1805 Haight at Shrader), a Puerto Rican restaurant helmed by chef Alex Jackson (Weird Fish/The Corner). At that point, the projected start date was today (Apr. 12), but now looks like it will be this Thursday or Friday (Apr. 15-16).

The inaugural menu features main courses (expected not to top $10) such as pernil asado (roasted leg of pork, marinated with garlic and oregano base sofrito), biftec encebolado (sauteed steak with caramelized onions), and pechuga encebollada (pounded chicken breast sauteed with caramelized onions); and sandwiches including Cubano (roasted pork, sweet ham, pickles, mustard, and Swiss) and berenjena (grilled, marinated eggplant). There will also be salads such as aguacate con yuca al mojo (avocado with cassava and onion garlic mojo) and camarones (shrimp marinated in creamy garlic sauce) as well as sides like maduros (sweet plantains) and the vegan habichuelas blancas (white beans in sofrito base with potato and calabaza).

Sounds like another good reason to avoid the McDonalds up the block.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
