Local writer Carolyn Jung, posting in her FoodGal blog, took a crack at recreating the much-lauded pork buns from the mini culinary empire that is New York's Momofuku. She used the recipe from the stunning book Momofuku as her guide, but, to our eyes, it looks like she's achieved a more enticing roast of her pork belly.

If Jung could also please make a batch of Momofuku's famed caramelized Corn Flake cereal milk (the recipe is also in the book) and come over, stat, we'll try to swear off Momofuku Milk Bar for good in return. Well, everything but the crack pie. (Crack may be wack, but it's hard to give up.)

Can't cook or get to New York, but need a Momofuku-style pork bun fix? We happen to think the buns at Heaven's Dog (1148 Mission at Seventh St.) are a pretty worthy substitute. The restaurant even has a vegetarian version for you non-heathens.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
