Not only did this week's review give me an excuse to eat queso frito over and over again ― even reading the words "fried cheese" makes the heart of any native Midwesterner swell ― it meant walking around the Mission sampling nacatamales. And then losing yet another afternoon to YouTube, which is well stocked with nacatamal-making videos filmed in both Nicaragua and the United States.

The best of the lot: In this video,

produced by a group of missionaries working in Central America, a young woman

translates nacatamal-making instructions into English; she's sweet but

about as reliable as the subtitles on 1970s kung fu movies. This video

of an outdoor nacatamal-making session may have you looking into airplane tickets to Managua. And the woman in the video

below, whose directions are easy enough to understand if you took a

few years of Spanish in high school, deserves her own cooking show.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
