Weren't gluten-free baked goods supposed to be one of 2010's hot trends? Looks like Kara's Cupcakes was listening. Show up at Kara's Marina shop at 3249 Scott (at Chestnut) this week, and you can score a complimentary gluten-free cupcake, part of a pre-launch promo for when the celiac-specific goodies go on sale for real next week at all Kara's stores.

Founder Kara Lind told us she's fielded numerous customer requests for gluten-free treats. "It's a big issue, and it's growing," said Lind, who spent a month developing the recipe. The result? Lind says the gluten-free cakes are noticeably different in texture, but they're still recognizably Kara's. Available flavors are sweet vanilla, chocolate velvet, and coconut, and they'll cost the same as Kara's regulars ($3.25 each, $3 each when you buy a dozen or more).

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
