Don't freak, smokers: You'll still be able to suck cancer sticks outside Harlot. Special Xtra will inhabit Harlot's smokers' pit weekdays only, when the bar is closed, then fold up its coffee gear by the time the sun goes down. "Our grinder and water towers are all on these hinged systems we have to pack up," Quintos says.
Like Vega and Cento, Special Xtra will use strictly Blue Bottle beans, and hawk pastries (including savory ones) from Goody Goodie. Kirk Harper ― Quintos' former partner for 330 Ritch nightclub ― is on board for Special Xtra, too. And the name? "It's the premier model Lambretta," Quintos says. "They stopped making it in 1968." Sweet.
Opening Friday, Jan. 29:
Special Xtra 46 Minna (at First St.); planning to open Mon.-Fri., 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
