SFoodie editor John Birdsall and our contributing bloggers seem to know what's happening in the bistro/food cart scene within moments of it happening. But that's only one frequency at which San Francisco restaurant gossip transmits. After almost four years away from the Bay Area, I'm looking to tune back in to the other frequencies, too.

Are your parents raving about last week's meal at a Sunset restaurant whose new chef just arrived from Southeast China? Has your boyfriend just taken you to a Daly City place that his sister swore made a proper caldo de pata? Did your coworker just talk up the banh uot at an Excelsior cafe? I ― and, by extension, SF Weekly readers ― want to hear about it. Feel free to email me at or, if you're on Twitter, DM me at @JonKauffman.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
