Last fall, Mary Loomas opened Saratoga Chocolates in the shuttered Joseph Schmidt space (3489 16th St. at Sanchez). On a recent trek from the Mission to the Castro, we stopped in. Even regular Schmidt customers might not notice any changes to the place (besides the chocolates, of course) ― except for Saratoga's classes. Loomas is offering what she calls a Series 1 class in truffle making Jan. 30, 11 a.m.-2:30 (cost: $125). On Feb. 5, there's a wine and chocolate class, 7 p.m-8:30 p.m. (cost: $50). Tickets available by calling 861-8682.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
