Like it or not, it's the time of year people bust out the spices, dusting off their old-ass jars of cinnamon, cloves -- even mace, for chrissake -- infusing gingerbread, cookies, and cider with the grandma reek of potpourri.

It doesn't have to be like that. Get yourself to Shalimar in the Tenderloin for a less clumsy taste of spice in a dish of murgh boti tandoori, wonderfully craggy pieces of ginger-and-spice-marinated chicken turned glorious in the charcoal-fired tandoor oven. And while we can't give you a rock-solid guarantee, we're pretty sure you won't be subjected to "Little Drummer Boy" over the sound system. Rejoice!

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
