Name: Hawaiian Hurricane Mochi Crunch & Nori Popcorn
Brand: Hawaii Popcorn Company
Origin: Hawaii
Found at: Uoki K Sakai Co. (1656 Post at Laguna)
Cost: $6.77
Ingredients: Popcorn, buttery topping (partially hydrogenated soybean oil, salt), mochi crunch (rice, soy sauce), sugar, seaweed, sesame seeds, tapioca starch, caramel, yellow 5 & 6, red 3, blue 1, nori (sesame seeds, sugar, seaweed, salt, dl-alanine, MSG).
Calories per serving: 80
The word: What initially seems like a high price tag for a single packet of microwave popcorn is tempered by the fact that it makes close to a gallon (or five servings).
Tasting notes: A glorious collision of multiple MSG streams, this is a salt-lover's paradise.
Buy it again? Yes, although we're tempted to make our own and cut down on the potentially dangerous sodium levels.
Extra credit: Uoki K Sakai, a specialist Japanese grocer that's been open since 1906, carries a number of items imported from Hawaii.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
