4. Marvin
A chic "classic bistro" is the last place you'd think to find chicken and waffles, but this Washington, D.C. spot serves what's best described as the gourmet version of the dish. Other items on the menu -- moules frites, steaks, duck confit -- are more in line with Marvin's upscale image.
5. Gladys Knight and Ron Winan's Chicken and Waffles
This chain, founded in 1997, has locations sprinkled throughout Georgia and Maryland. Lines run out the door during all hours, so don't expect a quick meal. You'll want to stick around, anyway -- the restaurant features items like beef sausage, shrimp and grits, and brown sugar salmon alongside the classic chicken and waffles combo.

6. Maxine's Chicken and Waffles
Located in downtown Indianapolis, this joint serves corn bread and peach butter alongside its jumbo wings and waffles. The restaurant is attached to a gas station, but don't be fooled: Maxine's was voted one of the city's Best New Restaurants by Indianapolis Monthly.

7. Chicago's Home of Chicken and Waffles
Soft jazz provides mood music at this restaurant, which serves chicken and waffles, catfish, and cheese grits. Originally called Chicago's Rosscoe's, the restaurant was forced to change its name thanks to a lawsuit from Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles. Oh, the drama of the chicken and waffle world!

8. Harlem Wing and Waffle
How can you go wrong in the birthplace of modern-day chicken and waffles? The restaurant is run by Brett Wright, a food lover who supposedly lives by two mottos: "Ain't no thing like a chicken wing," and "I never saw a waffle I didn't like." In addition to chicken and waffles, this Harlem standby has its own line of sodas, with flavors including Uptown Orange, Vanilla Cream, and Black Cherry.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
