Ingredients: Corn flour, pinto beans, jack cheese, canola oil, onions, cumin, paprika.

The word: Originally an invention from El Salvador some 3,000 years ago, pupusas are now a regular presence on these shores. They're sometimes mistaken for Mexican creations.  
Tasting notes: Yummy and definitely filling, if a bit dry. They're better when you add condiments.
Buy it again? Yes.
Extra credit: Try them with Casa Sanchez's addictively thick and crispy tortilla chips and hot salsa.
