Our favorite morsels from the food blogs and beyond.

Weight of opinion: Kathy of Food and the City turned away from the KC Masterpiece-slathered cliches of the holiday weekend to take a bite out of five of the city's best Vietnamese sandwiches (plus three also-rans). The winner? *Surprise*: Saigon (okay, no surprise, 'specially since Gene Miguel, new cheap eats correspondent for the Ex, drooled over Saigon last week). The Larkin Street locus of jalapeño-spiked deliciousness packs in hefty gobs of paté, pretty much the definition of a winner. To steal from -- er, paraphrase -- Kathy: Now we want one.

Low-rise neighborhood: Burrito Justice spilled updates on Pi Bar, the yet-to-drop pizza place taking over the old Suriya Thai space on Valencia. Late August opening, cranking till midnight, etc. Anybody wanna help Burrito spin variations on flat foods (besides, pizza, cookies, and pupusas) suitable for continuing a certain theme in the vicinity? We vote for an IHOP to move in. Burrito?

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
