The Healthy Baking Company of Emeryville wins taste points for its apricot-flavored California Suncakes, a great alternative to the glut of dry, processed energy bars on the market. And unlike other vegan products that use dried plums to create a moist texture, the whole thing doesn't end up tasting only of plum; the apricot chunks and oats still have a chance to shine. I tried this product about a year ago and found that the texture left something to be desired, but the "improved!" proclamation on the package was enough to give it a second chance, and it wasn't a mistake to do so. This was found for $1.99 at the Nature Stop (1336 Grant), but they should be in all local Whole Foods locations as well.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
