A16 Executive Chef (and co-author of the recently released A16: Food + Wine) Nate Appleman will celebrate his love for the wine and food of Southern Italy with a three-course presentation called "The Cuisine of Campania." While the specific menu is under wraps, Appleman's knowledge and skill in the art of curing meat is well known and possibly provides a hint of what's to be expected. That he was named a James Beard Rising Star Chef of the Year nominee is also another clue that diners will be in great hands. This special lunch is $95 ($80 for Commonwealth Club members) and takes place on Saturday, September 27 at A16 at 12:30 p.m. Visit the Commonwealth Club site for more info and to book. —Tamara Palmer

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
